Tram Brakes

When the tram driver pulls the lever an electric impulse travels to the break and causes the brake pad to rub against the wheel.  This creates friction and makes the wheel slow down.  if the brake pad is put on harder or longer the wheel stops faster.

  1. Great example, Jack. The tram motorman had to slow down our tram quite a lot when going round the corner. I wonder if you noticed him carry the brake handle down the tram when he changed ends?
