This is a picture of a wheel that has (although you can barely see) completely smooth witch reduces friction because the are no grooves but this can make it harder to control so I'm guessing that this set of wheels was lead by a horse.So if you wanted your art to be extremely fast you will want wheels like this with little friction.If you were to push a pair of bike wheels down a hill it would go slower because it has grooves to control the steering with whereas if you were to push a wheel like this with no friction it would glide down with ease but would have major problems trying to slow down. The name of this force is the rolling force.
Very interesting Eva. I wonder if these wheels were made to travel along the ground, or whether they have another purpose? They certainly wouldn't grip much as the rims are very smooth.
