Lady June Daphne Blundell lead for change

I would like to introduce you to... Lady June Daphne Blundell

.

Who: LADY  JUNE DAPHNE BLUNDELL. founder of CCF (Child Cancer Foundation)

When: Born on the 19th of June 1922 and died on the 31 of October 2012 at the age of 91

Where: Born in New Zealand.

What: June Blundell was heavily involved with CCF. She contributed to CanTeen and was active on behalf of St Johns, she was always smiley and she tirelessly fund-raised for CCF. Lady Blundell was also married to the first resident Governor General, Sir Denis Blundell and she was named to the Order of New Zealand, of which there are only allowed 20 living people in New Zealand at one time.

Why: She said:
“that she is very proud that Child Cancer has remained true to its original purpose that every child and their family walking the child cancer journey will never feel alone.” She is the most caring lady, she has done non stop fund-raising for so many organisations.

How: Lady Blundell was a very well known woman, she used her status to her advantage. She held luncheons and tea parties and asked for the help of her well known friends and raised money to help make Child Cancer Foundation a great supportive organisation. One of her earliest fundraising efforts was to raise money for a comfortable chair where parents could sit and sleep with their child while they had chemotherapy even before Starship Hospital was built.  We are going to miss her.

  1. Hey Claudia. Your post was really informative and interesting. You obviously know a lot about this person. It defines the 5 W's and the H well.

If this person hadn't of lead change lots of parents with Children suffering with cancer would not be able to stay with them and have them looked after.

    Well Done!
