Amelia Earhart by Lily

Amelia Earhart
Who:
Amelia Earhart was recognised for being the the first woman to fly across the Atalantic Ocean and break a number of flight records in the 1900s.
When:
Amelia Earhart was born on July 24, 1897 in Kansas, USA. She started flying at the age of 23. She died on June 29, 1937 - aged 40
Where:
Amelia spent her days as a child moving from place to place. Her family was low on money at that time and her father never had the same job for long. She was constantly moving. Finally in California, after she graduated from college, she took on her hobby of flying.
What they did to make a difference:
In 1928, she set out from Treepassey Harbour, Newfoundland to make world records and be the first woman to fly across the Atlantic Ocean. She succeeded and became instantly famous. In 1932 she set out to fly again and became the second person to fly across the Atlantic solo. In 1935, she became the first person to fly solo from Hawaii to California.
How did they feel insprired to lead change:
Amelia Earhart as a child loved to venture, sled, tree-climb and pony-ride which led up to her wanting to become someone who puts themselves 'out there' and gives things a go.
How did they go about leading change:
Amelia Earthart lead change all around the world. She was the first woman to fly across the Atlantic and she taught us all to keep on persisting and to push yourself further. She started out as not being a good pilot - but she kept on practicing to get better. She has also represented all women around the world that women can do what man can do.
